Our Mission

The mission of VIDA is to promote HIV awareness and education, encourage testing, and facilitate treatment of HIV-positive members of the Latino community.  Our initial focus will be on the Latino residents of San Diego County, California but hopefully this will expand as resources and partnerships develop.  We will take an educational, multi-generational approach with specific focus on teens and young adults to raise awareness in these critical groups and end infant HIV mortality.

Goals

• Increase HIV education among the Latino population of San Diego County
• Increase HIV testing across the Latino population of San Diego County especially among 13 – 22 year olds
• Encourage proactive treatment of positive HIV test results and de-stigmatize positive members of the Latino community
• Eradicate infant HIV in the Latino community and the larger San Diego County populace via partnerships working with non-Latino populations and public health organizations
